What is a predictive WiFi survey?

A predictive WiFi survey uses architectural drawings and known wall materials to simulate 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz coverage in Ekahau AI Pro. We place virtual access points, model attenuation through plasterboard, brick, glass and racking, then produce heatmaps, a recommended AP list and a channel plan.

It is the right first step for UK office fit-outs, new schools, warehouses still on the drawing board, and any tender that needs an evidence-based wireless design. Unlike a cheap "AP every X metres" rule, predictive design accounts for client density, wall losses and your target RSSI/SNR.

What you receive

  • Coverage heatmaps for the bands you will actually use
  • Access point count, placement and mounting notes
  • Channel and power plan to limit co-channel interference
  • Indicative bill of materials for Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Ruckus, Ubiquiti or Extreme
  • Assumptions log so your installer knows what was modelled

When predictive is not enough on its own

Historic stone, metal warehouses and medical campuses often need an AP on a Stick survey or a later passive validation survey once walls exist. We will say so up front rather than overselling a desktop-only design.

Send PDF, DWG or PNG layouts with your quote request and we typically return a predictive design within a few working days.

FAQ

Common questions

How accurate is a predictive WiFi survey?

Very accurate when wall types, ceiling heights and AP models are known. Accuracy drops if drawings omit attenuation (for example unlabelled brick vs plasterboard). We flag assumptions in the report.

What floor plans do you need?

Scaled PDFs or CAD (DWG/DXF) are ideal. Photos of typical wall construction help. If you only have a fire plan, we can still model with stated assumptions.

How much does a predictive WiFi survey cost in the UK?

It depends on floor area, number of floors and how complete the drawings are. Request a free tailored quote - predictive work is usually the most cost-effective survey type.
